The Sarah McLachlan School Of Music Receives A $300,000 Donation

A massive donation from Sun Life Financial is set to make a big difference in lives of at-risk and underserved youth in Vancouver.

The Sarah McLachlan School of Music was the recipient of a cheque for $300,000 from the financial services giant on Monday. The organization, founded by the Canadian music superstar in 2001, provides students with world class music programs at zero cost.

“It’s a beautiful energy, especially when the place is full of kids,” the Grammy winning artist told ET Canada. “It’s wild and loud and there’s music coming out of every room, and it’s kind of like a dream come true.”

McLachlan also noted that she’s managed to squeeze in a bit of work on new music into her busy schedule.
“I was in Tofino this weekend, between tearing off drywall and stripping my bathroom down to the bare bones which was kind of fun, I was at the piano and I was writing,” shared the star.
