Sarah Mclachlan Tour 2014 Canada: The “Shine On” Tour Bares Heart And Soul; New Music, Life Experiences During Hiatus, Talks Of Lilith Fair

When asked if another “Lilith Fair” is in the works, the artist responded in an interview with the Toronto Sun that the idea is remote, but possible. Mclachlan would do things differently otherwise, change the pace by making “Lilith Fair” a destination festival instead of a travelling tour of various artists.

The Sarah Mclachlan tour 2014 Canada is a follow up to her US “Shine On” tour, which runs June 20 to August 3 at various venues. Canadian tour dates run from October 18 to November 21, confirming her plans for a fall leg at various cities.

The “Shine On” album stays true to Mclachlan’s style, with pensive themes and with resolution. A lot has happened during her hiatus; her divorce to Ashwin Sood, husband of eleven years, and her foster father’s battle with cancer, which ended in December 2010.

Mclachlan takes everything in stride, and will offer laidback performances for fans during her tour. She’ll travel with a quintet, reworking old songs and performing new ones. “I want to keep it small and simple… [I] am really excited about playing the new songs as well – people will have to suffer through some tracks they don’t know.”

It took some time for Mclachlan to come up with new music, finding meaning in recent life events and relaying a message of hope. “In Your Shoes,” a single about adversity, is partially inspired by the Malala Yousafzai story.

“It takes the time it takes for me to write. You have to take time away to sharpen the saw, live, experience new things – I have something to write about.”
