Sarah McLachlan Shines On at The Greek LA

Angelic and soulful, Sarah McLachlan shined beautifully at The Greek LA last night. Her incredible range soars from deep sultry whispers to spell bounding heights within a blink of a moment; something only a true musician can achieve with seeming effortlessness. Her songs tug at tears locked deep inside, while at the same time evoke an easy smile. She’s absolutely incredible!

Sarah’s songs poetically reflect her introspections, gratefulness and deep care she has for other beings in her life. “I try to live my own life open-minded and open-hearted. And, I have no intention of changing that,” she proclaimed, as she introduced one of her songs dedicated to the people of the opposite persuasion. She went on to say, “If we didn’t have those people to run up against, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to know where we stand.” We could not only hear her truths in the words and expressive manner in which she delivered them so wondrously, but also in her joyful, grounded, authentic way of just being. There is a comfort to her that is unique and compelling.

I loved every single minute of her concert, every incredible creative transition between the luscious notes she sang and artfully played on the piano, guitar and even the drums for a short humorous interlude. The LA night’s air was perfect, and so was Sarah McLachlan!

And, wow! What a venue. Every time I have had the pleasure of attending a concert at The Greek, I have been awe-struck at the acoustics and the breezy flow within the outdoor space. And, every seat is fantastic! The Greek allows for each artist to lift their voices up and shine brilliantly, as Sarah did last night.

Sarah spoke of her new album, Shine On, as being about gratitude. After taking a trip to Cambodia, she found herself embodying a profound feeling of being grateful. She relayed, “We all have the ability to shine and give whatever it is we can. It’s a beautiful thing – whether it’s making a great cappuccino, which I personally love, or giving to charity” (which she does a lot). She went on, “Though we live in dark times, we have to remember to be light for one another…We all have to remember to be kind to each other.” Sing it, Sarah!
