Celebrity kisses to raise funds for charity

An auction of autographed celebrity kisses which ends on Valentine’s day is set to raise thousands of pounds for an Aids foundation.

Stars of film and pop music, including Michael J Fox and Britney Spears, have donated imprints of their lips which are being sold on the Internet.

The money raised will go to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, an international non-profit making organisation which funds preventative education programmes and care services for people with Hiv/Aids.

Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan’s kiss has attracted the highest bid of £778. Sir Elton has been offered £692 for his effort, while Britney Spears has received a bid of £443.

Other stars who have made special donations to the auction include Courtney Love, Janet Jackson and Jon Bon Jovi.

Bids can be made up to the end of February 14 on the Yahoo! Auctions site. Last year the event raised more than £11,500.

‘Valentine’s day is a great opportunity to reach out to loved ones and help make a difference,’ said Lindsay Biggart, from Yahoo! UK and Ireland.
