Cyndi Lauper Taps Adam Lambert, Sarah McLachlan & More for NYC “Home for the Holidays” Benefit

Last year, Cyndi Lauper hosted her inaugural “Home for the Holidays” benefit show to raise money for her charity, the True Colors Fund. It was such a success that she’s doing it again this year, with even bigger stars.

Cyndi has tapped Adam Lambert, Sarah McLachlan and Roberta Flack to join her for the 2012 edition of the show, which will take place December 8 at New York’s historic Beacon Theatre. Also on the bill are Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell, Carson Kressley, and Bravo’s Andy Cohen. More stars will be announced in the coming weeks; tickets go on sale this Friday, October 26 via Ticketmaster.

The concert is designed to raise awareness of homeless young people, up to 40 percent of whom identify themselves as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. Studies show that many of these kids are homeless because their families have thrown them out, or because they’ve run away to escape abuse and rejection. With the money from last year’s show, Cyndi’s True Colors Fund launched the “Forty to None Project,” which focuses on making sure no kids are homeless because of their sexual orientation.

In a statement, Cyndi says, “At last year’s sold-out concert we got a bunch of great folks together, had a big party with some great music and raised much-needed funds to help get the word out about these young people who are struggling. So this year we’re going to do it even bigger!”
