Special Sarah show
Fundraiser one night before folk festival

Sarah McLachlan will play a special fundraising performance to kick off the Edmonton Folk Music Festival.

“Sarah’s performance is a special fundraiser for the festival endowment fund, which is administered by the Edmonton Community Foundation” said Edmonton Folk Music Festival producer Terry Wickham, in a release.

She’s set to play the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 5.

The show will include a guest performance from Meaghan Smith, a brassy, forward thinking singer-songwriter, who shares Sarah’s Nova Scotia roots, Wickam said.

Wickham said he hopes to add another “high-profile” artist to the evening’s show.

This will be McLachlan’s first time back at Gallagher Park since 1989, the festival’s 10th anniversary.

Tickets for the concert will be available to weekend pass holders for $50 for adults and $25 for youths (ages 12 to 17) on Monday — opening day of festival ticket sales — at the festival ticket office and Ticketmaster.

On June 8, tickets for the Wednesday concert will be available to the public for $70 for adults and $35 for youth.

Tickets, if still available in August, will increase to $90 for adults and $45 for youth. This year’s festival lineup was announced Wednesday.
