Sarah to host Junos 2019!

Wednesday, January 30th, 2019

Thanks to Karine for the heads-up: Sarah will host this year’s Juno Awards! It will be in London, Ontario on March 17.

This year’s show will be McLachlan’s first as host, although the ceremony has featured the 10-time Juno Award winner and Lilith Fair co-founder multiple times before. In 2017, she was honoured during the live Junos broadcast as part of her induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Media from Fundraising Dinner

Sarah performed at a fundraising dinner (April 25th). Event was to raise money the for Eleni Skalbania Fund for Brain Cancer:

CHEF’S DINNER: Philanthropist and chef Frank Guistra convened a special fundraising dinner at the Wedgewood Hotel that raised an impressive $247,500 toward the Eleni Skalbania Fund for Brain Cancer, benefitting the B.C. Cancer Foundation. Guistra teamed up with Bacchus’s new executive chef Montgomery Lau and Anna Wallner, co-host of The Shopping Bags, for the intimate culinary experience in honour of Skalbania, founder of the Wedgewood Hotel, who was passionate about cancer research and quest to find a cure. The trio prepared some of the power broker’s most beloved family recipes, such as eggplant parmesan and chili and olive oil bathed beef tenderloin, for 72 attendees to enjoy. Three generous guests purchased the evening’s big-ticket auction item — private cooking lessons with Guistra himself — that garnered an impressive $90,000. Following the night of fundraising, multiple Grammy and Juno-award winner Sarah McLachlan capped off the evening with a little night music. The critical funds raised at the culinary-do will help the more than 77,000 British Columbians living with cancer today.

Sarah did an amazing speech when she was inducted in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, she performed World On Fire with Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland, and “Summer of 69” with all performing artists at the end of the show. She also got the Juno Award for “Wonderland” (YEY), which she received Saturday.

I got here an overview of all Sarah-Juno Award media, so first off the updated gallery (not yet with her accepting the Juno Award for Wonderland the night before):

National Music Centre article

A long article/interview recapping Sarah’s career:

“When good things happen, it’s often about being in the right place at the right time,” says McLachlan. “I met Pierre, who is obviously a genius, at the perfect time when I was still really trying to figure out who I was as an artist. He would always say things like, ‘I know that you can do all of these vocal acrobatics but I want to hear what you sound like.’ Pierre just really pushed me. He asked me to sing a lot lower than what I felt comfortable with and he was really instrumental in helping me channel that.”
