ELSEWHERE

One of my all time favorite Sarah songs, hands down. This song just puts me at peace and I don't think I'm eloquent enough to even describe how it makes me feel. I instantly connected with this song from the moment I heard it and it still makes me stop in my tracks whenever it come on. To me it's about finding the quiet moments in life and savoring them just as much as the loud, exciting ones, being alone-but not lonely. This song had a great balance of darkness and light and as always it is beautifully sung. Hopefully I'll get to hear it live again someday...

I love this song - one of the songs that made me a fan in the first place!
The best live version of this song I reckon was on the Vh1 Storytellers sessions
with Paula Cole - that version kicks ass!

This is one of my coming-of-age songs and I have always maintained some kind of a special bond with it. God, this song makes me feel like I'm 17 again.

I agree with Oz. That duet with Paula Cole is epic, two great artists at the pinnacle of their careers. We're so lucky that performance was captured on film.

This is one of my favourite songs and one of Sarah's strongest for me. I think it's so perfect, both lyrically and musically <3
It helped me through a lot a few years ago and I always feel this "little thing inside" whenever I listen to it, it's one of those songs that can bring me to tears (probably because for me it's associated with harder times in my life).

One of the very strongest tracks on FTE, gives the listener a glimpse of hope and optimism, even though the way she sings it and plays it is f'ing sad . Listening to all versions from 1992-2004, I think she delivered it most perfectly during the Surfacing era.

It's one of my all-time favorite tracks. I feel like Sarah had the ability to capture the essence of what being free means. It's so well sung and I really love to listen to all its versions. I also love to play this song along with my guitar and sing it out loud that "I BELIEEEEVEEEE"....

BUILDING A MYSTERY

This was the first new song I got to experiemce coming out as I became a real fan in between Fumbling and Surfacing. I though it was a different sound from Fumbling, but it still had that Sarah touch and I loved it. I think she sings this with great attitude especially live when she sings " You woke up screaming" and " A beautiful f***** up man." The lyrics paint some interesting images and sound almost stream of consciousness in places. One of her more "rock" songs-love when she gets edgy!. I know we've heard it numerous times, but I never seem to tire of it. Makes me smile!

I remember buying Mirrorball (1999) one day in 2004. Got home and couldn't wait to play it on my CD player. The beginning chords and the crowd cheers had me sold. My fandom forever began with this track..

Surfacing was my second full-album purchase and I loved the album version as much as the live one

I luuuuurrrvveeee (Mig ) this track! It's definitely one of my favorite Sarah tracks, ever. To me, the album version and the live versions are two seperate worlds. The album version carries a certain mysterious nature while the live version is just pure rock goodness. The Mirrorball version is the best, in my opinion. I don't think any other live performance of the song has topped it. Live performances of the song have improved since the awful Afterglow Live "country" version. Of course, I won't forget to mention the music video is one of my favorites too.
