My problem with artists like Ke$ha, Rihanna is that I don't find what they do "sexy". I find it pretty kitsch. For me Lilith is about what is beautiful in Female singer-songwriters. The hounesty and mystery of a song that comes from the heart coupled with a devine performace is what makes my heart sing. Dancing around half naked and making music that sounds like everyone else's is not beautiful to me. Its trashy and is just there to sell records. Bueaty should be celebrated, trash should be ignored...

do you all know who selena gomez is? shes 17 and from the disney channel.. she doesnt have a bad voice at all but i feel like they are just using people like this to get more ticket sales. now we'll have every kid disney channel lover there!

I would hope the reason for that is for Mom's to bring their younger daughers to a show. Sarah is a Mom after all.
To fall so deep into you
Lose myself completely
In your sweet embrace
All my pains erased

And your mouth is all that I wish
Mercy of your lips
Just one kiss
Until I can breathe again
Until I can sing again

‘Cause I'm a trainwreck
Waiting to happen
Waiting for someone to come
Pick me up off the tracks
The wildfire born of frustration
Born of the one love that gets me so high
I've no fear at all

Seriously? She's in the lineup? Oh God... perfect...

Lilith is supposed to be a gathering of female "artists", not female "celebrities". I have always referred to Beyonce, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Britney and their kind as mere celebrities or performers. Almost every celebrity nowadays can sing, thanks to Autotune (*clears throat* insert name of latest autotune phenomenon here: ____). They all have one thing in common: they produce the same old bland commercial crap everyone else from the pop music factory cranks out. It's just product to me: product specifically made to sell, it's not music and definitely not art. And Lilith is supposed to be catering to "music" fans, not "celebrity" fans.

Very disappointing...

That's disappointing, there are so much good artists that could take Rhianna's place: Sarah Slean, Feist (Sarah mentionned her name in a recent Much Music interview), Martha Wainwright, ... As you said, why not Britney and Lady Gaga? :?

Well considering Lady Gaga IS a singer-songwriter as well as a musician, I see no reason why she couldn't be included in Lilith Fair.

You make an excellent point here ecstasythrumusic. Dispite my personal feelings about artists like Rhianna appeering at Lilith, she will bring in people who wouldn't normally attend a Lilith such as young girls who then will have a chance to discover new artists who they don't normally get a chance to hear on the radio. It could be a blessing in disguise.
